Notre Dame Fighting Irish 140th Anniversary Christmas Ornament

Notre Dame Fighting Irish 140th Anniversary Christmas Ornament – When “Wake Up the Echoes” Becomes a Christmas Tradition

Some college football memories belong to a particular season. Others are passed down through families.

That sense of history is what gives this ornament its identity.

At the center, a green-clad leprechaun-style football character charges forward with the ball while Notre Dame Stadium rises behind him. Snow-covered evergreens soften the stadium scene and turn familiar game-day imagery into something that feels naturally at home during Christmas.

Rather than covering the design in generic holiday graphics, the artwork keeps its focus on Notre Dame football and lets the winter setting provide the seasonal connection.

1887–2027: A Milestone Built Into the Artwork

The lower portion carries the words “Wake Up The Echoes” above a prominent “140th Anniversary” banner and the dates 1887–2027.

Those details transform the piece from a simple team-themed decoration into a commemorative design. Gold stars, shamrock accents, navy-and-gold banners and evergreen branches frame the anniversary message without competing with the stadium scene above.

The combination also gives the ornament two viewing levels: from across the room, the green character and stadium establish the Fighting Irish identity; up close, the anniversary lettering becomes the detail fans discover on the tree.

From Game-Day Memories to the Christmas Tree

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Christmas ornament works naturally on a family Christmas tree, especially in a home where college football is already part of the holiday conversation.

It can also be used on a smaller sports-themed tree, hung from an ornament stand in a fan room, or incorporated into a seasonal display alongside tickets, photos, programs and other Notre Dame football memorabilia.

For families with multiple generations of Fighting Irish fans, it can become part of an annual tradition—one more Notre Dame memory added to the tree each December.

A Meaningful Gift for Fighting Irish Fans

This design has an especially natural gifting connection because of its anniversary theme.

It can make a thoughtful Christmas surprise for a longtime Notre Dame football fan, graduate, student, parent, grandparent or family member who grew up following Fighting Irish Saturdays. It also works well as a stocking stuffer, alumni-themed holiday present, game-room gift, or commemorative addition to an existing college football ornament collection.

For someone who remembers Notre Dame football through different players, coaches and eras, the 140th anniversary artwork gives the ornament a broader meaning: it celebrates the tradition that connects all of those seasons together.
