National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Griswold House Christmas Ornament

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Griswold House Christmas Ornament – When “Enough Christmas Lights” Isn’t in the Vocabulary

Some Christmas displays are tasteful and restrained. This one proudly goes in the other direction.

The centerpiece is the unmistakable Griswold house Christmas scene, covered almost completely in tiny multicolored lights. They trace the roofline, windows, porch, columns, bushes, and surrounding trees until practically every visible surface becomes part of the display.

Snow across the roof and yard provides a bright winter backdrop, making the red, green, blue, yellow, and warm-white lights stand out even more dramatically.

At the center of the yard, a winter-clad figure stands with arms stretched wide as though presenting the illuminated house in all its excessive holiday glory.

The Station Wagon Brings the Road Trip Home

Parked beside the house is another memorable piece of the composition: a wood-paneled family station wagon.

A large evergreen tree is strapped across its roof, still dusted with snow and extending well beyond the vehicle itself. Combined with the ladder leaning against the house, the scene feels less like a static Christmas decoration and more like a tiny moment captured in the middle of an ambitious holiday decorating project.

Look around the yard and there is even more to discover—snow-covered shrubs wrapped in lights, decorated evergreens, a snowman, wreaths, brick posts, and thick layers of winter snow.

These smaller elements give the Christmas Vacation ornament the feeling of a miniature holiday diorama rather than a simple character ornament.

Holiday Lights Take Center Stage

The house itself dominates the upper half of the design.

Rows of colorful bulbs run across both floors and continue onto the snow-covered roof, while warmly illuminated windows add depth behind them. Even the landscaping participates in the spectacle, creating the intentionally excessive look associated with the film’s Christmas decorating theme.

The lower display plaque reads:

“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”

with “Holiday Lights” underneath, framed by snow and small holly accents.

Rather than focusing on a single character, the ornament brings several recognizable visual ideas together—the illuminated family home, snowy suburban yard, overloaded station wagon, giant Christmas tree, and extravagant decorating effort.

For fans who return to the movie as part of their December traditions, the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Griswold House Christmas Ornament turns that familiar holiday chaos into a tree-ready scene filled with details worth looking at again each season.
