Mad Max MFP March Hare Interceptor 1972 Ford Christmas Ornament

Mad Max MFP March Hare Interceptor 1972 Ford Christmas Ornament – Before the Wasteland, There Was the MFP

The most interesting thing about this ornament is what it doesn’t look like.

There are no rusted panels, oversized spikes, desert dust, or improvised armor. Instead, the design reaches back to the cleaner Main Force Patrol aesthetic associated with the earlier world of Mad Max—when brightly marked pursuit cars still represented law and order on increasingly dangerous roads.

The vehicle is presented in vivid yellow, immediately broken up by broad navy-blue stripes bordered in red. Those racing-style lines run from the hood across the roof and continue along the body, giving the car a visual sense of speed even while it is hanging motionless on the tree.

Large “MFP” lettering on the rear quarter panel leaves little doubt about the patrol theme, while “MFP 508” appears above the side windows.

A Patrol Car Designed to Be Noticed

Unlike many movie-car collectibles that rely almost entirely on the vehicle silhouette, this design gets much of its personality from the smaller details.

Twin blue emergency lights sit on the roof. Yellow wheels continue the body color rather than disappearing into the lower profile. A black grille provides contrast across the front, while the brown interior is visible through the windows. The hood and bumper carry the same red-and-blue stripe treatment seen across the rest of the vehicle.

Together, those details create a very specific retro Australian pursuit-car look.

The ornament also avoids adding a large movie title or character portrait to the body. That keeps attention on the interceptor itself, making it especially appealing to someone who recognizes a film vehicle from its colors, markings, and silhouette rather than needing a prominent logo to explain the reference.

Why the March Hare Stands Out

Within the broader Mad Max visual world, the MFP cars represent an interesting contrast. They belong to a setting that is already becoming violent and unstable, but their organized patrol markings still suggest a society attempting to maintain control.

That tension gives the MFP March Hare Interceptor ornament more character than a generic yellow muscle car.

Its bright paint and emergency lights evoke pursuit sequences and highway patrol imagery, while the classic body shape gives the piece a strong 1970s automotive personality. For fans who are drawn as much to the machines as to the characters, it brings a recognizable piece of road-movie styling into an unexpected setting: the Christmas tree.
